Advantage Portable, Central and Glycol Chillers

Seven Series, 173 Standard Part Numbers, 1/4 to 300 Tons

Every Advantage chiller is a complete, US-built package: compressor, evaporator, controls and - on every self-contained model - the reservoir and process pump, piped and wired and run-tested before it ships. The line covers a 1/4-ton bench unit beside a single machine through 180-ton indoor packages, outdoor units that need no mechanical room, and paralleled modules that take a plant loop to 300 tons. Process fluid from 20°F to 80°F is standard, colder with glycol in the loop. The series below are the whole catalog; each one lists its part numbers with full specifications.

  • Portable: The MG Series runs from the M1 fractional units to the 40-ton MG frame, air-cooled, water-cooled or with a remote condenser. It sits beside the machine and runs on power and a process connection.
  • Indoor Central: The Titan Series puts compressor, evaporator, reservoir and pump on one frame from 20 to 180 tons, with air-cooled or water-cooled heat rejection.
  • Outdoor Central: The OACS Series ships weatherproof and fully charged for a pad outside the building, 5 to 150 tons, single-zone or dual-zone.
  • Chilling Modules: The air-cooled APT-RC and water-cooled WPT modules are refrigeration only, 5 to 180 tons each, and parallel onto a pump tank station to add capacity to a loop you already run.
  • Glycol: The BG Series runs a 25-30°F process fluid with glycol in the loop, indoor and outdoor, for fermentation, food processing and any duty below the 48°F plain-water floor.
  • Multi-Tank Control: The BC-SCC cabinet splits one glycol chiller across 2 to 8 tanks, each with its own set point and solenoid valve.

Chiller Selection

Heat load, fluid temperature, portable or central, air- or water-cooled - the four answers that pick an Advantage chiller.

Temperature Control Units

Water and hot oil units to 300°F and beyond that hold a mold or platen at temperature while the chiller carries the heat away.

Choosing Between the Advantage Series:

Start with where the chiller will live. One or two machines that need cooling, and a unit that may move with them, is a portable chiller. A whole molding floor or process line on one chilled-water loop is a central chiller - a Titan indoors, an OACS on an outdoor pad when there is no room inside.

Then decide where the heat goes. Air-cooled units dump it into the room or outdoors and need nothing but power; water-cooled units need a tower or plant water but run quieter and hold capacity on a hot day. The air-cooled vs water-cooled guide works through the trade-off.

Then check the fluid temperature. Below about 48°F on plain water the evaporator is at risk of freezing. Colder duty means glycol in the loop and a BG Series chiller built for it.

Last, plan for growth. A plant that will add machines is often better served by a pump tank station with APT-RC or WPT modules added as the load grows than by one oversized chiller today. If you already hold an Advantage model number, the chiller series guide shows which series it belongs to.
