BC-SCC Tank Control Cabinets

Several Tanks, One Glycol Chiller

BC-SCC is not a chiller — it's a wall-mount electrical control cabinet that sits between one central glycol chiller and 2 to 8 brewery tanks, giving each tank its own independent temperature control from a single central glycol loop. Seven standard models cover 2 through 8 tanks, one control channel per tank.

Each channel reads its own thermocouple temperature sensor mounted on the tank and switches a 1/2" solenoid valve to admit chilled glycol into that tank's jacket whenever it calls for cooling — an adjustable set point and an actual-temperature readout per channel let an operator see and set every tank independently from one panel, rather than running one glycol loop at a single fixed temperature for every tank in the room. Optional high-temperature lockout and an emergency stop button are available across the line.

The cabinet runs on standard single-phase 110/115V power — no three-phase service is required for the control panel itself, separate from whatever power the chiller feeding it needs. A BC-SCC doesn't produce any cooling capacity of its own: it makes one properly sized central glycol chiller (see the BG series) usable across multiple tanks running at different temperatures and schedules, instead of forcing every tank onto the same loop temperature or buying a separate chiller per tank.

Distributes one glycol chiller's loop to two through eight tanks, each held at its own temperature.

One glycol chiller feeding a BC-SCC control cabinet that distributes to four tanks

One Chiller, Several Tanks, Independent Temperatures

A single central glycol chiller can carry the combined load of several fermentation or bright tanks, but only if each tank can call for cooling on its own schedule and its own set point. BC-SCC is the piece that makes that possible — without it, every tank on the loop runs at whatever temperature the chiller itself is set to, with no per-tank control.

Tell us how many tanks you're running and their individual temperature targets, and we'll confirm both the right BC-SCC model and the central chiller sized to feed it. Call: 1-805-484-2992

Choosing a BC-SCC model is simply a tank count — 2 through 8 independently controlled channels, one per tank. The harder question is sizing the central glycol chiller that feeds it, which depends on the combined heat load and duty cycle of every tank on the loop, not just the tank count.

See the BG series for the chiller itself, or go straight to Request a Quote with your tank count and target temperatures and we'll size both together.

Common FAQs

No. It's a wall-mount electrical control cabinet with no refrigeration of its own — it distributes cooling from a separately sized central glycol chiller across multiple tanks. See the BG series for the chiller itself.

Seven standard models cover 2 through 8 tanks, one independent control channel per tank, each with its own thermocouple and 1/2" solenoid valve.

No — a BC-SCC only distributes and controls cooling that a central glycol chiller already produces. Undersizing the chiller feeding it means every tank competes for the same limited cooling regardless of how the BC-SCC is configured.

Standard single-phase 110/115V, 60Hz power for the control panel itself — no three-phase service required, separate from whatever power the chiller feeding it needs.

Each channel on an Advantage BC-SCC acts as the temperature control for one tank. A thermocouple on the tank reads its temperature, and when the tank calls for cooling the channel switches a 1/2" solenoid valve to admit chilled glycol into that tank's jacket. The panel shows each channel's adjustable set point and actual temperature, so an operator can check and change every fermenter or bright tank from one wall-mounted cabinet. The glycol loop itself stays at the central chiller's setpoint; only each tank's valve cycles, which is how tanks on one loop hold different temperatures.

Three things. First, the tank count, which is the model: BC-SCC-2T through BC-SCC-8T, one channel per tank. If more tanks are planned, a cabinet with unused channels avoids replacing the panel later. Second, whether you want the optional high-temperature lockout. Third, whether you want the optional emergency stop button. Also confirm how the thermocouple and the 1/2" solenoid valve will mount on each tank's jacket piping. Send the tank count, each tank's target temperature and the options to 1-805-484-2992 or the quote form, and we'll match the Advantage cabinet to the glycol chiller feeding it.

The BC-SCC only opens and closes valves, so the fluid is set by the central Advantage glycol chiller. BG chillers are built to deliver 25-30°F glycol, and Advantage calls for a 30-35% inhibited propylene glycol mix at 25°F, with a freeze point about 25°F below the lowest setpoint. Every tank set point on the cabinet has to sit above the loop temperature, because a jacket can only pull a tank down toward the glycol supply temperature. Check the mix with a refractometer on a schedule, since a diluted loop can freeze the chiller's evaporator.
